Chapter 81: Story 81: The Haunted Gallery

"Welcome to Dimensions," Mr. Blackwood said, his voice dripping with an eerie calmness. "Feel free to explore and interact with the art. But be warned, some pieces have a life of their own."

The girls exchanged curious glances, dismissing his warning as a marketing gimmick, and began their tour. The gallery was filled with breathtaking works, each more captivating than the last. But one painting, in particular, caught their attention—a life-sized chimpanzee appearing to reach out from its frame, holding a smartphone as if taking a selfie.

Giggling, Maya and Lucy approached the painting. "Let\'s take a selfie with it," Maya suggested, pulling out her phone. As they posed beside the artwork, they felt a sudden, chilling breeze sweep through the room. The chimpanzee\'s painted eyes seemed to sparkle with mischief, and its grin widened unnaturally.

Suddenly, the chimp\'s arm moved, breaking free from the confines of the canvas. It grabbed Lucy\'s wrist with a vice-like grip, pulling her towards the painting. She screamed, trying to free herself, but the chimp\'s strength was overwhelming. Maya, in shock, tried to help, but it was as if the painting had come alive.

The room darkened, and the once lively gallery turned into a nightmarish scene. The walls seemed to pulse with malevolent energy, and shadows danced in the corners, whispering unintelligible words. Mr. Blackwood\'s sinister laughter echoed through the hall.

"You shouldn\'t have dismissed my warning," he called out. "Dimensions is no ordinary gallery. The art here is cursed, bound by the souls of those who dare to mock its power."

With a final tug, Lucy was pulled entirely into the painting, her terrified face now part of the chimpanzee\'s grotesque masterpiece. Maya stumbled back, tears streaming down her face, unable to comprehend what had just happened. The chimpanzee\'s eyes glinted with satisfaction as it settled back into its frame, Lucy\'s silent scream forever captured in the artwork.

Maya ran towards the exit, but the gallery seemed to warp around her, the halls stretching endlessly. Every painting she passed now had eyes that followed her, their expressions twisted with malice. She could hear faint cries and whispers of past victims, their souls trapped within the canvases.

Desperate, Maya finally burst through the front doors, collapsing on the sidewalk outside. She looked back at the gallery, now appearing as a mundane building with no sign of the horrors within. Mr. Blackwood stood in the doorway, his eerie smile unchanged.

"Remember, some art is best left untouched," he said before retreating into the darkness.

Maya fled the town, haunted by the memories of that night. She knew she could never speak of what had happened; no one would believe her. But the legend of Dimensions lived on, drawing in curious visitors who, like her, would discover the true terror behind the gallery\'s enchanted art.

And within the gallery, the chimpanzee\'s painting remained, its newest addition a grim reminder of the price of curiosity.
