Chapter 392 Unlikely Person, Good Proposal

"You may end up with people you\'ve never even fought with, you may end up with people you\'re at odds with just remember this isnt about you, its bigger than you. Leave your quarrelling in the real world.

"How this plays out depends on each and every one of us. If we can\'t stand together, I don\'t doubt that it\'ll be the end of humanity." Hiro added.

Kiro was the first to give him a round of applause. He couldn\'t believe how far his best friend had come, he was capable of much more when he would leave his comfort zone.

"Well said." Ishaan commended.

As the arena vigorously clapped their hands, two fighters entered the ring. The matchup was totally random. Each and everyone of the guardians were already there, that included Isaac and Ursa.

They still hadn\'t decided how they would choose priests that were worthy. But they knew the importance of them within a team, no team was complete without a healer.

The fight was underway, the fighters both seemed to be battle mages. Both brandishing short swords.

"Sorry Aiden, but you\'ll have to try again next week." Ronald Chase proclaimed, they weren\'t friends but they were classmates.

He needed to join the ranks immediately. He didn\'t want to lose to Isaac. Sure the supposed Prince treated them much better than before but he still didn\'t want any gaps between them.

Aiden was just someone who played the game for fun. He didn\'t care much about levelling up so naturally he was much weaker. Something he regretted now.

"I may be weak but wouldn\'t it be more embarrassing if you lost to me?" He spat.

His resolve was indeed strong, he wasn\'t going down without a fight, enhancing his body using mana he pushed forward to the opponent that was mocking him. Find your next read on empire

His sword intended to slice Ronald\'s head but he guarded against it using his own. He quickly moved under the two weapons with a gut-punch.

Aiden however gritted his teeth and used his elbow to hit Ronald on his crown. It connected perfectly, if he was slightly weaker his skull would\'ve caved in.

Ronald jumped up from the ground aiming for the chin—an uppercut that saw Aiden fly to the other end of the fighting platform.

Everyone expected him to stay down but he bounced once on the ground with his back and unwittingly landed on his feet.

He spat a mouthful of blood and downed a healing potion. At the corner of his eye, he could see Ronald coming in for another attack. Aiden couldn\'t believe the gap in their skills.

\'I\'m absolutely going to lose here but I refuse to give up, maybe my strong resolve will be the reason I get to be a guardian.\'

Kiro and his friends underestimated just how sought after the title of being a guardian was. It were as if everyone was waiting for a moment where they could be the hero and this worlds ending event, bad as it was, gave them just that.

"He\'s sure stubborn." Isla said watching the fight much closer. Yes they needed strong fighters but they needed loyalty and resolve even more.

Aiden\'s opponent was stronger, faster and much more adept. It felt like he wasn\'t trying hard while this fight to him felt like survival mode.

The only rule in the tournament was the no killing rule. Otherwise anything goes. Someone could attack multiple times, if the opponent wasn\'t yielding they\'d have to find a way to knock them out.

Getting there, Ronald threw his fist and was blocked momentarily but that was just a faint as his short sword pierced Aiden\'s other arm which immediately went limp and caused him to drop his weapn.

"Can I say something?" Isaac asked as he thought this match was as good as over.

When they turned to see who was speaking, it left them shocked. With most guardians having confused expressions and furrowed eyebrows. It wasn\'t unwarranted attitudes, Isaac had brought this all upon himself.

Kiro didn\'t trust him to address the entire crowd, nobody in that vicinity did. All eyes were on him though, he didn\'t make himself leader this time but they somehow expected him to be one.

"There\'s a match going on, could you at least respect that?" Trying his best to keep the bile from climbing out of his throat.

"After the match then?"

"You can say it to us." He finally addressed his question, words seething with venom this time. Whatever he had to say, it couldn\'t have been good.

Isaac looked like he would argue.

"There\'s no scenario we\'re gonna agree for you to address the lot of them, so just do yourself a favour and speak. Don\'t waste time we already don\'t have." Felix was on his last nerve.

He sighed, "fine. It\'s regarding punishments. I\'m sure you all know that there will be one or two who rebel and betray. There should be a severe punishment not just threats."

Kiro\'s eyebrow twitched at the last line which was clearly a jab meant for him. But he couldn\'t deny that he was right, people needed to know just how serious this all was.

"What did you have in mind, smart guy?"

"Punishment by everyone. It\'d be great if the system could have punishment mode, once activated all of us attack a single player and without dying they lose levels." He proposed.

It wasn\'t exactly a bad idea. It was actually brilliant. But Kiro felt like it was too harsh.

"Taking a page out of your book huh?" Kiro said a little bit smug.

"While it\'s not a bad idea, it\'s too harsh." He said dismissively.
