Chapter 160: Mount Odae and the Cloud Fish (5)

When the blonde girl woke up, she could feel a soft ground embracing her body. Then, as she gradually regained consciousness from her half-asleep state, a sweet scent began to waft to her nose from all around her from the delicious smell of sugar to the aromatic smell of chocolate.

The blonde girl saw a sea of hot chocolate sloshing on a floor covered with snow-white marshmallows.

She must have fallen asleep in the mysterious cloud fish village, so how could she open her eyes in such a place?

Her vision was still blurry as if she was still asleep, she even felt hazy as if she was floating in a dream, so anyone who looked at it could tell that it was a dream.

However, the blonde girl just happily got up and started walking around this dream world.

After walking a little, she saw a small red creature jumping around on a round marshmallow that looked like a trampoline. It wore a bright expression on its face, as if it was really happy.

The blonde girl squatted down to examine the cute creature in detail as soon as she walked closer to it.

Then, the red child seemed to notice the blonde girl’s presence, and turned around with a bright smile.

The face of the red child who turned around was familiar to the girl.

< gray="" reaper="">

Except for the pigtails and the red color, it looked exactly like the Gray Reaper.

Even though It felt a little strange, she decided to let it go since it was only a dream.

When the Red Reaper met the blonde girl’s eyes, it smiled brightly as if it was really happy and squeezed the girl’s pinky finger tightly.

The blonde girl didn’t know why, but it felt like the Red Reaper was telling her that it had been waiting for a really long time to meet her even though the Red Reaper wasn’t saying anything!

At that moment, the Red Reaper who had been so happy suddenly took its hand off the blonde girl’s pinky finger, crossed its arms, and turned its head away, as if its was dissatisfied with something.

However, it didn’t simply ignore her. It still opened its eyes slightly and glanced at the blonde girl.

So cute!

Thinking that its action, which was not aligned with its feeling cute, the blonde girl lifted the Red Reaper up and rubbed its cheek against hers.

Was it because it was red?

The Red Reaper was extremely soft and warm.

The Red Reaper, who had a pleasant warmth like a hot pack, pushed the girl’s cheek away from it as if it found it annoying. However, rather than a sour or angry face, its lips curved upwards, a proof that it was enjoying it.

After some time, the Red Reaper escaped from the blonde girl’s grasp and started walking away.

“You want me to follow you?”

The Red Girl turned her head slightly, nodded slightly, and walked forward without hesitation.

Plop-! Plop-!

With a cute and fast gait, the Red Reaper arrived at the giant marshmallow colosseum.

As the blonde girl entered the huge entrance that was much taller than the girl, she saw mini reapers in various colours. They all smiled brightly and jumped up and down when they saw her.

Even though they didn’t say anything just like the Red Reaper, she could definitely feel that they were very welcoming of her.

Was it the ability of these mini reapers?

Or was it because she was in a dream?

She kept feeling like the mini reapers were talking to her.

As she had that kind of thoughts, the blonde girl followed the Red Reaper down the long hallway. It was a hallway that seemed like a path leading to the central square of the Colosseum.

As she walked down the hallway, the Black Reaper and the Golden Reaper were cheering on her while shaking the marshmallow skewers in their hands.

Perhaps because of the cheering, there was a strange tension flowing through the blonde girl’s body as she walked through the hallway with the Red Reaper.

When they reached cookie-made iron bars that separated the centre of the Colosseum and the hallway, the Red Reaper stopped. Then, it looked at her and clenched its fist while sporting a serious expression, as if saying ‘Fighting!’.

At its sight which seemed to be cheering her, the girl was bewildered. However, following the Red Reaper’s guidance, she still entered the center of the colosseum. At that moment, a brightly lit plaza which was way different than the dark hallway came to her view.

The cookie iron bars that had been open to let her in suddenly closed. Then, a Gray Reaper made of a lump of water began to approach her with heavy footsteps from the other side.

Thump-! Thump-!

Huh?

Huh?

Martial arts? Did she have to fight?

The girl could not keep up with the sudden change in situation, and just looked around.

However, the water Gray Reaper, who had assumed a boxing stance, approached with flashy steps, and before she knew it, a punch flew at her at incredible speed.

Bang-!

The blonde girl lost consciousness as she felt a shock that reminded her of a large water balloon bursting in the middle of her face.

*********“Sis! Sis! Come out quickly!”

A certain woman who was grinding herbs hurriedly headed outside of her house at the sound of her sister’s voice who was watching the TV.

Once she was outside, she could see her sister making a fuss while pointing her finger far away.

When she turned her gaze in the direction where her sister was pointing at, she saw a huge cloud mass suddenly bursting through the horizon.

A Cloud Whale had descended to the ground.

“Seems like the Sehee Research Institute is currently under attack by an Object.”

In the meantime, news was streaming from the screen of the cell phone that her sister held out. The screen showed a huge cloud whale lying limply on the ground with its eyes closed as if it was sick.

The footage, which was taken from a helicopter in the sky, also showed a line of cars which people used to run away from the Cloud Whale. On the other hand, there seemed to be quite a few reporters and onlookers gathering around the cloud whale.Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn

While such scenes were being shown, the announcer’s voice flowed out from the screen.

[ It seems that the school of cloud fish that was hovering over Songpa-gu has landed on the Sehee Research Institute. ]

[ This is a strange behaviour from the cloud fishes which were regarded as non-aggressive Objects as well as extremely safe. ]

[ The Korean Object Association announced that they are still assessing the current situation and recommend people to not approach them. ]

The tattooed woman looked at the news while slowly rubbing her chin, lost in thought.

“Sister, should we go to the Sehee Research Institute? Even though I have never seen cloud fish up close before, I think it’s okay to go?”

The younger sister asked cautiously, as if she expected the younger sister to object, but the answer she received was a little different from what she had expected.

“Cloud fish are quite harmless, so I think it’ll be okay for us to go there.”

“Really?!”

The tattooed woman added, ‘Let’s prepare something simple first before we go.’ and went back inside the house.

She had been planning to visit Sehee Research Institute ever since it was announced that the Gray Reaper had returned to Korea. Of course, she didn’t know that she would visit so suddenly like this.

After packing some alchemy items into her bag and holding the Guardian in her arms, the woman walked toward her younger sister who was waiting in front of the house.

“Sister! Let’s go quickly!”

Although not as much as her younger sister, the woman felt a little excited at the thought of meeting someone from her original world.

*********The whole world suddenly turned white, making nothing visible.

Even though the mini reapers seemed nervous about the sudden attack, nothing really happened. A pure white world where nothing could be seen simply descended upon Sehee Research Institute.

In that pure white fog, the voices of anxious people could be heard. Feeling the anxiety of the humans, the Golden Reapers spread out in all directions and gradually increased the amount of light they emitted from their bodies.

They were shining brightly like the sun!

They were burning more firewood to make them shine brighter in order to prevent the humans from getting lost.

Since the Black Eeaper couldn’t do something like that, they looked at the Golden Reaper with an envious expression.

Plop-! Plop-!

Leaving the Golden Reapers who were shining like lightbulbs behind, I walked forward. After all, I felt like someone was calling me.

As I went deeper and deeper to the fog, the surrounding noises became more and more distant. Before I knew it, the clouds that filled the surroundings began to have a physical texture.

As I pushed through the fluffy clouds, I could see black clouds floating here and there at the end. At the same time, I could see a faint illusion of an orange moon floating in the sky.

A serene and non-hostile moon.

Most of the moon I met until now had been hostile to me, but this time it’s different?

As I was looking up at the orange moon with curiosity, I could feel a faint will was conveyed to me.

Just like with the mini reapers, I knew what it was telling me.

Please help me.

The orange moon was desperately crying out for help.

Please help me.

The orange moon’s desperate cry also conveyed a feeling of unbearable and terrible pain.

Please help me.

It was a cry full of pain coming from far away in the east.

The orange moon was enduring the pain from something which could make its entire body rot away at any moment even though it could be relieved from the pain in an instant if it didn’t endure it and just come to terms with its death.

It was not that difficult for me to help it. Since it was related to black mucus, it was something that had to be done. I don’t know why, but I had a gut feeling that if I left the black mucus spreading alone, something big would happen.

But somehow I didn’t want to agree to it right away.

The cat-like thought of ‘Why should I help you?’ kept popping out in my mind.

The disobedient side of me which was hidden in my heart was making its appearance.

However, as if it had predicted my reaction, a piece of memory began to play. It was an old black-and-white memory which looked like a very old film.

In that memory, black blood was flowing down from the surface of the purple moon that seemed to dominate the sky dyed in ominous light. The sticky stream of black mucus which was flowing down like a waterfall made it looked like the sky and the moon were crying.

Then, the black mucus slowly but steadily filled the land and painted the sea black.

Endlessly, ceaselessly, black rain fell from the sky, and the black mucus that had dug underground had taken away even the source of drinking water.

Then, there was no land for people to live anymore.

It was the extinction of my source of firewood.

That was how the unidentified memory ended.

The ‘black mucus’ situation seemed more serious than I expected. I expected it to be nothing but an acid that could melt Objects. Acid that multiplied infinitely was just too much.

Okay, I’ll help you.

As I decided to help, the orange moon illusion blurred and disappeared. At the same time, the ginormous Cloud Whale soared powerfully into the sky again. As the Cloud Whale soared into the sky, the smaller cloud fishes followed it and soared into the sky as well.

When my field of view opened up as I went to the sky from the Sehee Research Institute, I saw a river flowing above the sky.

The cloud fish were tail to tail, crossing the sky as if showing me the way. It was a celestial river that flowed in a mixture of blue, white, and orange.

The river of cloud fish that started just above the Sehee Research Institute continued endlessly to the east, touching the horizon. The pure white cloud fish were emitting a faint but captivating orange light, as if they were holding the last sparks of the sunset in their bellies.

Even in the dark sky, the beautiful light that guided the way without losing to the starlight. It was the Milky Way of the cloud fish which was shining orange as if it was holding the stars in their mouth.

When I looked at the Milky Way of the cloud fish flowing to the east, I could clearly see the path I had to take.

*********Pow-! Pow-!

When the girl opened her eyes to the feeling of a small palm mercilessly slamming to her cheeks, she saw an unfamiliar ceiling.

“Ah right.. This is the cloud fish village.”

The girl remembered arriving at the village full of mysterious cloud fish, entering a room and falling asleep.

By the way, who woke me up?

The blonde girl looked around the empty room, wondering, ‘Did Ahjussi wake me up?’, but saw no trace of the Agent Black.

As she looked around the empty room, she felt a prickling sensation on the back of her hand. When she looked down, she saw Red Reaper smiling brightly at her.

Slap-!

However, since the girl thought she was still dreaming, she hit her own cheeks hard with both hands, but after she felt the pain spreading, the Red Death was still there.

In the meantime, the Red Reaper just tilted its head as it looked up at the blonde girl who had suddenly hit her own cheek.
