Chapter 50 - A Call From the Abyss?

Chapter 50: A Call From the Abyss?

Alan smiled at Abraham who was leaning against the wall and eating bread.

He knew he had to be careful around this strange man, especially in this foreign world where magic was prevalent. After all, he did not know magic at all so he could easily be in danger.

When he rejected the gift from the auntie next door in the afternoon, to when Alan brought him into the tavern that night, and the reaction he had when he saw food, Alan was certain that this man with such strange behavior was a hillbilly with a social phobia. Of course, he believed in his drunken speech about the Abyss.

For an adult who transmigrated here from the 21st century, he believed in the saying that everyone spoke the truth when they were drunk.

Alan did not know much about the Abyss and the demons.

However, after meeting Abraham, the Evil Lord of demons, Alan was more willing to believe that the Abyss demons were just a bunch of backwood bumpkins who had never seen the world.

Perhaps they just wanted to enter the city to see the world but the people in the city mistakenly thought that they were invading, so they just started to fight. Later on, neither side was willing to admit defeat, which led to the current situation.

Alan felt that he had reached the truth. The Abyss and the demons were not an unintelligent race. Perhaps these bumpkins were easy to communicate with and much more innocent than what others may think.

Abraham happily finished the bread in his hand. He looked at Alan who just opened the door.

After hesitating for a while, he carried the remaining bread and entered the tavern.

He handed the bread to Alan.

“Here you go. This is to pay you back for the noodles from last night.”

Abraham’s voice sounded very clear when he wasn’t drinking.

“Don’t mind if I do. The auntie next door is very good at baking bread. I like it very much. Thank you, Abraham.”

Alan’s smile was full of kindness.

So the two of them sat face to face, eating their bread and leisurely looking outside the door, waiting for the first guest to come and drink.

Perhaps it was because tomorrow was the Harvest Festival and everyone was busy, there were not many people tonight. Other than the few repeating customers, most did not come.

As soon as they entered the tavern, they saw Abraham, who was staying in the tavern. Everyone casually teased him out of goodwill.

After Alan explained to everyone that he was afraid of strangers, they could not help but feel that Abraham was easier to get along with when he was drunk.

Mister Wayne still stepped on the tail of the setting sun and came into the tavern.

Every time he came to the tavern, he would make a ruckus, and everyone could hear him from afar.

When he entered the tavern, he saw Abraham, who was helping Alan with the tray. Wayne was shocked.

“I was wondering why you didn’t want to come to the tavern with me. It turns out that you snuck here first.”

Mister Wayne complained.

Alan saw that not many people were here, so he sat Abraham next to mister Wayne and gave him a cup, letting the two of them drink by themselves.

He didn’t know what was going on between the two of them, but as long as they drank, they would be able to chat together.

When Alan was done with serving and sat down at their table, the topic of conversation was no longer about dragon-slaying, but rather slaughtering gods…

Alan assumed that perhaps dragon slaying wasn’t enough to satisfy their bragging?

Tomorrow’s Harvest Festival was important so the tavern closed earlier than usual.

After watching mister Wayne and Abraham leave, he listened to their jokes and laughed as they left the street.

Alan was also about to close the door.

Back at the blacksmith shop, Wayne, who drank too much again, returned to his bed and fell asleep.

Abraham waited for a long time. After confirming that Wayne was indeed drunk, he quietly left the room.

But what he didn’t know was that the moment he left the room, Wayne opened his eyes while pretending to snore, a thoughtful look appeared on his face.

Abraham left the room and went to the shop upfront, which was where Wayne forged during the day.

His hands moved quickly and drew a few hexagonal star arrays in the air.

After the air in front of him fluctuated, a blurry image appeared.

One could vaguely make out that it was a person with a triangular cotton nightcap on his head. The person yawned and spoke lazily.

“Abraham, you’d better give me a reasonable explanation for why you haven’t been answering your king’s communications and disturbing my dreams in the middle of the night.”

Abraham lowered his head. He was a little frightened and quickly explained.

“My King, it’s not that I don’t want to receive your communications. I don’t have any other way. The human world is far different from what you’ve said,” Abraham sobbed.

When the man opposite him heard this, he seemed to be a little angry.

“My King, please listen to my explanation.”

“The human world has changed too much.”

“When I first arrived in the human world, I was in a forest. I walked for an entire night before I left the elves’ territory. Several times, the elves almost discovered me. Fortunately, I was cautious, so I had a chance to escape.”

Abraham patted his chest when he recalled that dangerous night.

“Then, by the evening of the second day, I finally arrived at the nearest human city. This city… the city walls are at least three meters thick and twenty meters high. Human powerhouses are patrolling at all times.”

“After I entered the city, I saw clean and spacious streets. There were even neat street lamps by the road. The shops along the streets were also bustling with people…”

Following Abraham’s explanation, the person on the opposite side gradually became silent. Even though they were not standing face to face, he could still feel his anger.

“Later, I set my sights on a tavern and planned to use it as our demon stronghold in the human world. However, My King…This tavern is so powerful…”

“It’s been three days and I still haven’t been able to thoroughly investigate the tavern, let alone investigate the city. My King, the humans have become very powerful. There are as many powerhouses among them as there are hairs on a cow’s back.”

In the blacksmith shop, Abraham complained to the Demon King tearfully about the difficulties he faced while undercover in the human world.

Wayne was dumbstruck when he heard this. This fool really was a demon?

If the entire demon clan was like him, what was the point of fighting? If humans were to play a simple trick, they could wipe them out…

Even the Demon King was so easy to coax. How did the Great War between Gods and Demons 800 years ago end up so tragic?

Wayne couldn’t help but silently complain. The might of the demon clan have gone awry…

After Abraham finished complaining, he lowered his head and waited for the Demon King’s reply with a sad face.

The Demon King was silent for a long time.

“Sigh, the strength of the human race has indeed exceeded my expectations. Thank you for your hard work, Abraham. Don’t worry, I know now that the human world is dangerous, so I won’t let you deal with it alone. Tomorrow, I will arrange a helper for you. He will look for you. You two will work together. That’s it for now. If there is anything else, contact me at any time.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the image in front of Abraham gradually disappeared.

However, the Demon King didn’t see the shocked expression on his Evil Lord’s face when he heard that he was getting helpers.

Abraham cursed the Demon King in his heart. He didn’t say all that to get helpers, he just wanted to stay in the human world a bit longer…

After listening to the conversation between the two, Wayne put his heart back into his stomach.

Now he was really at ease. After all, how powerful could such a simple race be?

He returned to his room with satisfaction. His mind was already looking forward to the Harvest Festival tomorrow. After all, the prizes were enticing.
